California Enters National Redistricting Battle

California Democrats have responded to Texas Republicans' controversial redistricting with Proposition 50, a November ballot measure that would temporarily set aside the state's independent redistricting commission and allow lawmakers to redraw political boundaries.

The measure has sparked debate over whether it's a necessary response to election manipulation or undermines voter-approved reforms. The issue heads to a special election in November.
