Everbloom Coffee Expands with New Downtown Indio Location, Marking Milestone for Local Growth

Everbloom Coffee, a locally owned coffee shop known for its calm vibe and strong connection with customers, has officially opened a second location in downtown Indio. The expansion marks a significant milestone for both the business and the city’s ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. Owner Matthew Ortega shared the humble beginnings of the business, which started as a coffee cart in early 2020—just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down.

“It was really just a cart, and we started out with that—probably almost 10 years ago. But officially, we started on February 28, 2020, and two weeks later, everything shut down,” Ortega said. “We just kind of kept it going through the cart concept, and by summer of 2020, we knew we had something special.”

Since then, Everbloom has built a loyal following at its first location on Highway 111. The second store, now open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, offers more space and brings new energy to downtown Indio, an area city leaders have been working hard to rejuvenate. Indio city officials, including the Director of Economic Development, praised the move, saying the city is committed to supporting locally owned businesses that create spaces where people can gather and feel at home.

“We want downtown to be a place where people feel connected—somewhere you can hang out, study, or just enjoy good coffee and community.”

With the College of the Desert (COD) nearby, the new Everbloom is also becoming a hotspot for students looking for a relaxed place to study.

Customers echoed the positive sentiment.

“The baristas are super friendly, and the vibe is just really chill,” said one local. “It’s great that they expanded here—this area is really starting to take off.”

Ortega credits the shop’s success to the personal relationships built with customers. “In a lot of ways, I think that’s what sets us apart—making someone feel seen, even if it's just for a coffee.”

For now, the plan is simple: continue to serve the community and be part of downtown Indio’s growth—one cup at a time.
