House Speaker Johnson Claims Trump Was FBI Informant in Epstein Case
House Speaker Mike Johnson is drawing headlines after claiming President Donald Trump once served as an FBI informant in the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein.
The remark came September 4, when Johnson defended Trump against calls for the release of additional Epstein-related documents. “Terrible, unspeakable evil,” Johnson said. “He believes that himself. When he first heard the rumor, he kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago. He was an FBI informant to try to take this stuff down.”
President Trump has pushed back on renewed scrutiny of the Epstein case, calling the effort to release more information a hoax driven by Democrats.
A spokesperson for Johnson later clarified the speaker’s comments, explaining that he was reiterating what an attorney had previously stated. They emphasized Trump’s actions against Epstein more than a decade ago, pointing to his decision to remove Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.
“By kicking Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago, President Trump was the only one willing to help prosecutors expose Epstein for being a disgusting child predator,” Johnson’s spokesperson said.
The claim has added a new twist to ongoing debates over Epstein’s past crimes and the government’s handling of investigations tied to him.
