Know Before You Go: Construction Projects for the Week of September 8th

Several ongoing construction projects across the Coachella Valley will continue to impact traffic this week, according to Program Manager Kris Gunterson from the CVAG Traffic Management Center.

Palm Desert: Cook Street Water Line Project

The most disruptive project remains on Cook Street, where the Coachella Valley Water District is replacing potable water lines. The project has caused significant traffic disruptions with signals in red flash and changing traffic control patterns.

Duration: Approximately one more month Detours: Use Washington Street or Portola Avenue to avoid delays

Palm Springs: Bridge Construction Progress

The bridge construction project in Palm Springs is showing visible progress, with concrete pours and pilaster installation underway. Currently, all traffic is routed to the east side while crews work on the west side of the bridge.

Expected completion: Late 2025 Detours: Use Mesquite or Sunny Dunes to connect to Ballardo Road

Indian Wells: Miles Avenue Finishing Touches

The Washington Street and Miles Avenue improvement project is nearing completion. Crews are applying final pavement striping and installing median landscaping.

Current impact: Eastbound inside lane closure only Expected completion: 1-2 weeks

Upcoming Work

Rancho Mirage: A slurry seal project will begin next week along Highway 111 from border to border. More details will be provided in next week's update.

Tomorrow Morning: Traffic signal cabinet replacement at Jefferson and Highway 111 starting at 4 a.m. The intersection will operate with stop signs instead of traffic lights during the work.
