Palm Springs Police Investigating Loud Noises Near Palm Springs High School
Palm Springs Police are looking to calm the public's nerves this morning after a report of explosion sounds near Palm Springs High School.
The police department this morning put out a message on social media saying that investigators have determined the sound to be a vehicle backfiring in the area.
A vehicle backfire is a loud popping noise caused by unburned fuel igniting outside the engine’s cylinders, usually in the intake or exhaust system.
Officials say out of an abundance of caution, police and fire personnel will continue to search the school grounds.
