South Korean Workers Return Home After U.S. Immigration Raid

More than 300 South Korean workers returned to Seoul this week, one week after being detained during a federal immigration raid at a Hyundai facility in Georgia.

The workers arrived at Incheon International Airport amid significant media attention and protests. Federal officials conducted the raid as part of an investigation into alleged unlawful employment practices at the facility.

Protesters gathered in the airport terminal, with some displaying banners criticizing U.S. immigration enforcement. The returning workers exited the baggage claim area in groups, accompanied by South Korean officials and police officers.

Buses were stationed outside the arrivals area to transport the workers to reunite with their families across South Korea. The raid and subsequent deportations have drawn attention to immigration enforcement practices affecting foreign workers in U.S. manufacturing facilities.

The investigation into the employment practices at the Hyundai facility remains ongoing.
