Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler and Sabrina Carpenter to host first episodes of SNL Season 51

The first three hosts of “Saturday Night Live” Season 51 have been announced. The new season of the long-running NBC sketch comedy will debut October 4 with Bad Bunny serving as host and Doja Cat as musical guest.

Bad Bunny previously pulled double duty as both host and musical guest in October 2023. He has appeared on “SNL” as a musical guest two other times, in 2021 and in May of this year. The announcement follows his Puerto Rico residency, which wraps up September 20 with a live-streamed concert on Amazon Prime, Twitch, and the Amazon Music App. He is also set to launch a world tour later this fall.

On October 11, “SNL” alum Amy Poehler will return to host, with Role Model as musical guest. Poehler was a cast member from 2001 to 2008 and co-anchored the Weekend Update segment. Since her time on the show, she has hosted twice, in 2010 and 2015 alongside Tina Fey, and made numerous cameos.

The October 18 episode will feature Sabrina Carpenter as both host and musical guest. The “Espresso” singer has appeared previously as a musical guest and cameo performer, most recently during “SNL50: The Anniversary Special.”

This season comes as “Saturday Night Live” experiences a period of change, with several recent departures from the core cast and new members joining the ensemble.
