Google Partners with Nonprofit to Combat Non-Consensual Image Sharing

Google is working with nonprofit organization StopNCII (Stop Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery) to prevent the online distribution of intimate images shared without consent.

The partnership utilizes technology that allows victims of image-based abuse to create digital fingerprints, called hashes, of their intimate images. These unique identifiers are then shared with major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and OnlyFans.

The participating platforms use these hashes to automatically detect and block attempts to upload the flagged images, preventing their redistribution without requiring victims to report each instance individually.
