Nurses Plan 24-Hour Strike at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs Over Staffing Concerns

Nurses at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs are preparing for a 24-hour strike set to begin at 7 a.m. on September 30th. The strike, organized in response to staffing and recruitment concerns, is directed at Tenet Health, the parent company of the hospital.

After seven months of unsuccessful bargaining with Tenet, nurses say the strike is necessary to push the hospital to prioritize safe staffing levels and make meaningful efforts toward recruiting more healthcare workers. Organizers argue that inadequate staffing puts both patients and staff at risk and that the hospital must take more proactive steps to address these challenges.

In preparation for the strike, a strike education class will be held on September 25th at 10:30 a.m. to inform nurses and supporters about the upcoming action and their rights during the strike.

The strike will take place along the sidewalk in front of Desert Regional Medical Center, located on Indian Canyon Drive. The 24-hour protest will end at 7 a.m. on October 1st.
