Cathedral City Hosts Hispanic Heritage Month Block Party and Resource Fair
Cathedral City came alive this weekend as the city and the Cathedral City Senior Center teamed up to host a vibrant block party in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The event highlighted Hispanic culture through music, food, and entertainment, while also providing families access to vital community resources. City leaders say the celebration was about more than entertainment—it was about connection and inclusivity.
“This is happening here in Cathedral City because we’re a majority Latino community,” said Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager for the city. “It’s important to celebrate our diversity, be inclusive, and make sure we have a welcoming opportunity to celebrate what is a monthlong celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.”
The festival, which also doubled as a resource fair, marked the first time Cathedral City has held a celebration of this kind. Organizers hope the event will grow in future years.
Laura Gutierrez, People Experience Manager for the Cathedral City Senior Center, emphasized the importance of the event for local families. “Our purpose here is we brought a lot of different resources so families can get the information they need. It makes me feel amazing because I’m part of the Spanish heritage and all the things that they have to do—it’s amazing to be part of it.”
Organizers say they look forward to expanding the event in the future to make it even more impactful for the community.
