Coachella Valley Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Block Party

Several local organizations across the Coachella Valley came together Saturday, September 20, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. St. John’s Community Health hosted a festive block party filled with cultural performances, community partner booths, food, refreshments, and plenty of raffles and giveaways.

Organizers emphasized that beyond the celebration, events like this provide an important sense of connection and safety. “It’s crucial to have events like this given the climate that we’re living in,” one organizer said, noting that protocols were in place with all vendors in case of any immigration enforcement activity. “They’re important because we’ve got to show up for our community. A lot of them are living in fear, and events like this help bring a little joy.”

The day was marked by culture, connection, and celebration, offering families a chance to gather, honor heritage, and enjoy a sense of togetherness.
