Living Desert Zoo Welcomes New Baby Giraffe Calf
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is celebrating the arrival of a new baby giraffe calf, an important addition to ongoing conservation efforts.
Zoo officials say the calf is part of the Species Survival Plan, a program designed to ensure a healthy genetic population of giraffes in human care. The birth comes at a critical time as giraffes face what experts describe as a “silent extinction” in the wild.
For now, the young giraffe is still adapting to her new environment. Staff say she is gradually becoming more comfortable in the habitat, often venturing out alongside her mother. Visitors may catch glimpses of the calf as she begins exploring and growing more adventurous.
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is inviting the community to witness this exciting chapter in its conservation work, with the calf’s official name reveal expected in the near future.
