Palm Desert Hosts Emergency Preparedness Expo Wednesday
The City of Palm Desert is conducting an emergency preparedness expo on Wednesday afternoon as part of National Emergency Preparedness Month to help residents prepare for natural disasters and emergencies.
The free event runs from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Palm Desert Library and is open to all ages.
Event Components
The expo includes a hands-on workshop teaching residents how to assemble household emergency kits for natural disasters and power outages. Representatives from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Department, Riverside County Fire Department, and American Red Cross will staff information booths.
At 3:00 p.m., the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network will present emergency preparedness information and safety tips.
For families with children, the Palm Desert Fire and Sheriff's Departments will host a first responder story time, allowing children to meet local emergency personnel and learn about safety.
