Comic Books, Crabs, and One-Hit Wonders: Thursday's Holiday Extravaganza!
Thursday, September 25th brought a triple threat of celebrations that had our weatherman Jerry Steffen diving deep into some seriously fun territory during Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz!
National Comic Book Day had everyone reminiscing about those colorful pages filled with superheroes, word bubbles, and childhood memories of basement comic collections. Whether you're Team Iron Man or Team Captain America, today was your day to celebrate those illustrated adventures that sparked imaginations worldwide.
But the fun didn't stop there! Food lovers rejoiced with not one, but TWO seafood celebrations. National Crab Newburgh Day showcased that rich, buttery delicacy made with crab meat, cream, and a splash of cognac, while National Lobster Day had everyone thinking about those "clawsome" dinner experiences – even if seeing them in restaurant tanks tugs at the heartstrings a bit.
The real showstopper, however, was National One Hit Wonder Day, which inspired our pop quiz segment focusing on those memorable musicians and bands who captured lightning in a bottle with just one unforgettable tune.
Think you know your one-hit wonders? Test your knowledge with these two brain-busters:
1) The 1996 comedy-drama film "That Thing You Do" featured a fictional one-hit wonder band called The Wonders. Their hit single was pressed on a fictional record label that the film's director Tom Hanks later used as the name of his production company. What was that name?
A) Major Minor
B) Play Tone
C) Splash
2) An English musician known as "M" recorded the one-hit wonder "Pop Music," which topped US charts in 1979. In the chorus, he name-drops New York, London, and Paris. What's the fourth city he mentions?
A) Bangkok
B) Munich
C) Tokyo
