Five Local Leaders to Receive Palm Springs Spirit Awards
Mayor Ron deHarte will recognize five community members today at 2 p.m. during the annual Spirit of Palm Springs Awards ceremony at City Hall.
The Recipients
Spencer's Restaurant and General Manager Julieta Quinn will be honored for the restaurant's 25-year presence in Palm Springs. The establishment has built a reputation for fine dining and community involvement.
Lili Rodriguez, who leads the Palm Springs International Film Society as Artistic Director, will receive recognition for her work with the organization. She is the first Latina to hold the position.
Pedro S.G. Rodriguez, head of the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition, has overseen the development of more than 5,000 affordable housing units for low-income families across the region.
Marcel Ramirez, who owns Gabino's Creperie, started with a catering business and expanded into a restaurant featuring what he calls "French burritos" and South American dishes.
Erika Flannery, co-owner of Cafe La Jefa in the Uptown Design District, has created a gathering spot that combines Mexican-inspired coffee with handcrafted food.
The ceremony takes place in the Large Conference Room at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
