Local Nonprofits Compete for Major Grants in Shark Tank-Style 'Desert Fast Pitch' Semifinals
The energy is high and the stakes are even higher as 10 local nonprofits take the stage tonight in the semifinals of Desert Fast Pitch — a dynamic, Shark Tank-style competition that gives local organizations the chance to pitch their mission for real grant dollars.
The event is hosted by the Rapp Foundation and it's more than just a competition — it’s a platform that gives a voice to the vital work being done by nonprofits across the Coachella Valley.
Each participating nonprofit has just three minutes to make their case in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. The goal? Win their hearts — and funding.
“Desert Fast Pitch is such a wonderful opportunity for nonprofits in the desert,” said one event organizer. “So often, we hear about the great work these organizations do, but rarely do we get to see it firsthand. This event puts their mission front and center.”
But in this competition, there are no losers. Every one of the 10 semifinalists will receive a $1,000 grant from the Rapp Foundation simply for completing the program and participating. After tonight’s presentations, six finalists will be selected to move on to the main event on October 2nd at UCR Palm Desert, where they’ll compete for additional funding — including the grand prize.
Finalists will receive an additional $1,000, and the final pitch showdown will feature live judging and audience participation. NBC Palm Springs will be providing live coverage of the October 2nd finale, giving the community an up-close look at these powerful, purpose-driven presentations.
As the pitches unfold tonight, it's not just about the money — it's about connection, community, and making a lasting difference in the desert.
Stay tuned for more updates, and mark your calendar for the final showdown on October 2nd.
