New Business in Downtown Indio

After the owners of Little Street Musical Hall and the City of Indio were unable to reach an agreement on a lease extension, new tenants are set to take over the space. The new business, called The Desert Rat, is co-owned by Ron Mesh—owner of Studio B Mixing Facility—Jayce Levi, who runs an instrument repair shop called RepairLand, and Levi’s wife, who will oversee the bagel side of the operation.

The city has committed $180,000 in tenant improvement funding for the 5,357-square-foot space. Under the terms of a five-year lease—beginning in April 2027 and including an 18-month rent-free period for construction and setup—the tenants will pay $2,678.50 per month in rent. Extension options are also included in the agreement.

NBC Palm Springs reporter Brett Rosen spoke with co-owner Jayce Levi about the future of the business. Levi shared his vision of creating a space that welcomes people morning and night, seven days a week. He also emphasized a strong commitment to Indio’s music scene, aiming to bring in bigger touring bands while also giving local acts the opportunity to open shows and gain exposure.

The full story, including the official opening date for The Desert Rat, will air during the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. broadcasts, and will also be available online after 7 p.m.
