Over 100 Coachella Valley Students Experience the Power of Music at ‘Adopt the Arts’ Workshop
Music, movement, and mentorship came together in a big way as more than 100 elementary students gathered at Agua Caliente Elementary School for a special workshop hosted by the Adopt the Arts Foundation.
The event brought together students from six schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District, all part of the Changles Honor Choir, a group of talented third to fifth graders selected for their passion and dedication to the arts.
The all-day experience was made even more memorable with appearances by Matt Sorum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer for Guns N’ Roses and co-founder of Adopt the Arts, and Grammy Award-winning artist Macy Gray, who both spoke about the value of arts education.
Students not only rehearsed music but also took part in choreography sessions led by Emmy-nominated choreographer Jennifer Hamilton and So You Think You Can Dance alum Carly Blaney, adding an energetic and creative layer to the experience.
For many students, it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn directly from music and dance professionals — and to feel the transformative power of the arts.
The workshop was more than just a fun day — it was a reminder of how critical arts education is in shaping confident, expressive, and inspired young minds.
