Sacramento Police Investigate Sexual Assault Outside School Pickup
Sacramento police are investigating a disturbing attack outside American Lakes School in South Natomas, where a woman says she was sexually assaulted in broad daylight while picking up her children.
The incident happened just before noon as Cynthia Paris was loading her 6- and 7-year-old children into her car for a dentist appointment. Surveillance video from the school shows a man standing near her vehicle before lunging at her as she walked to the driver’s side.
Paris described the terrifying encounter, saying the man picked her up and groped her before she fought him off. Her children watched from the backseat as she screamed until the suspect ran away.
“They were angry for me and sad for me because they saw everything,” Paris told KCRA, adding that the attack has left her anxious whenever she returns to the school.
Police confirmed the incident is an active sexual assault investigation but said they have no suspect details to release. Paris recalled that the man intentionally concealed his identity with a hood and mask.
The Natomas Unified School District said it is fully cooperating with authorities but cannot share further details while the investigation is ongoing.
Until an arrest is made, Paris says her family is struggling to feel safe again. “More anxiety picking them up, constantly like looking around before I do anything,” she said.
