Living Desert Zoo Teases Arrival of Brand-New Species with Daily Clues

A new resident is on the way to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, and for the first time in its 55-year history, it’s a species that has never been showcased at the zoo. To build excitement, the Living Desert is releasing one clue every day leading up to Tuesday, giving the community a chance to guess who will soon call the Coachella Valley home.

Zoo officials say they want to make this reveal interactive and fun for both visitors and locals. “We are very excited. We are going to be welcoming a brand-new species here at the Living Desert, one that has never been here in all of our 55 years. And we are inviting the community to guess who’s coming,” one animal expert shared.

All this week and through the end of September, residents can check the Living Desert’s social media pages for the daily clue. One lucky winner, along with three friends, will be selected to meet the animal and tour its new habitat before the official grand opening on November 1.

Today’s clue reads: “They forage on the run, nap in the sun, and can spot their foes long before the fight’s even begun.”

The mystery has sparked plenty of speculation, but fans won’t have to wait long before the Living Desert reveals the newest member of its animal family.
