18-Year-Old Desert Hot Springs Resident Killed in Early Morning Crash

Police are investigating a deadly crash in Desert Hot Springs that claimed the life of a local resident early Tuesday morning.

Authorities say the incident happened at 4:10 a.m. at North Indian Canyon Drive and Scenic Drive. Responding officers found 18-year-old Jamie Castro lying in the roadway after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.

Investigators believe additional drivers may have struck the victim or witnessed his movements prior to the fatal crash. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the case. Anyone with details is asked to contact the department directly.
