DoorDash Unveils DOT, a Compact Robot for Food Deliveries
DoorDash is introducing a new player to the food delivery game — DOT, its fully autonomous, all-electric delivery robot.
The company says DOT is about one-tenth the size of a car and can reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour. Designed for flexibility, DOT can use sidewalks, bike lanes, and even roads to ensure timely deliveries.
DoorDash plans to debut DOT in the Phoenix, Arizona area, where the compact robot will begin transporting food orders directly to customers. If successful, the company hopes to expand DOT to more cities across the United States.
The launch highlights DoorDash’s continued investment in automation and AI-driven technology, as demand for faster and more efficient food delivery services grows nationwide. DOT is part of a broader trend of tech companies exploring robotics as a solution for last-mile delivery challenges.
