Netflix Hit ‘Black Rabbit’ Starring Jude Law, Jason Bateman, and Troy Kotsur Explores Gritty New York Story

In this week’s Agua Caliente Entertainment Report, brought to you by Agua Caliente Casinos, Manny the Movie Guy dives into the new Netflix series “Black Rabbit,” which has quickly climbed into the platform’s top 10.

The show offers a darker, more underground view of New York City, far removed from the glossy version often seen in film and television. At its center is a restaurant called The Black Rabbit, run by Jude Law’s character. Trouble begins when his estranged brother, played by Jason Bateman, reenters the picture, pulling both men into a web of crime and betrayal.

Oscar winner Troy Kotsur joins the cast as Joe Mancuso, a crime boss who is also deaf. Kotsur says the role gave him a chance to bring a new perspective to the screen by combining American Sign Language and English in a mafia setting. “I look for roles that make people think outside of the box,” Kotsur explained. “I wanted to show a fresh perspective and give the audience a brand-new experience.”

Manny praised the performances and chemistry between Law, Bateman, and Kotsur, noting the series balances character-driven drama with an overarching narrative full of surprises. Kotsur added with a smile that viewers should take away one simple lesson from the show: “Don’t screw with any deaf people.”

With its layered storytelling, gritty atmosphere, and powerhouse performances, “Black Rabbit” is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s must-watch series this season.
