Palm Springs ModCom Architectural Preservation Awards Return October 11

Palm Springs’ reputation as a global hub for midcentury modern architecture will be on full display this October as the community gathers for the annual Architectural Preservation Awards. Hosted by PS ModCom in partnership with Palm Springs Life, the event honors the visionaries and projects that have restored and reimagined the city’s architectural legacy.

Now in its 25th year, PS ModCom has been instrumental in educating the public about the value of preserving midcentury design. Leaders of the organization say its work, paired with cultural moments like the television series “Mad Men,” helped spark wider appreciation for the style and fueled tourism, real estate growth, and a unique cultural identity in Palm Springs.

This year’s awards ceremony promises to be both celebratory and entertaining, with short documentary-style films highlighting each award recipient. Organizers say the evening is designed to be accessible to everyone — from architecture enthusiasts to those simply interested in the city’s cultural history.

The event takes place Saturday, October 11, beginning with a cocktail reception from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Annenberg Theater, followed by dinner for 250 guests at the Palm Springs Art Museum from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets, which include valet parking, are still available but going fast at psmodcom.org. Guests are encouraged to embrace the “Cocktail Glam” dress code for the evening.
