Federal Reserve's Lisa Cook to Remain in Position as Supreme Court Prepares to Hear Case
Lisa Cook will continue working at the Federal Reserve following a Supreme Court decision to defer action on her immediate removal.
President Donald Trump fired Cook from the agency in August after his administration alleged she had committed mortgage fraud. Cook has denied the accusations, calling them "manufactured," and initiated legal proceedings to challenge her dismissal.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear oral arguments in the case this January. The court declined to grant the Trump administration's request for Cook's immediate termination, allowing her to remain in her position while the case proceeds.
The case will be heard during the court's January session, with a ruling expected in the months following oral arguments.
