Cathedral City Cannabis Crackdown
Cathedral City is stepping up enforcement on its cannabis industry after receiving dozens of odor complaints from nearby residents. In response, the city has approved amendments to its cannabis regulations, directly impacting its 59 licensed cannabis businesses.
The updated ordinance introduces stricter odor control requirements aimed at curbing nuisance smells and holding non-compliant operators accountable. These new rules come after the city imposed a temporary moratorium earlier this year on new cannabis licenses and business expansions while officials worked on permanent regulatory changes.
The ordinance is expected to take effect in late November, pending a final council vote scheduled for October 22.
Coming up in our 11 a.m. newscast, our Alondra Campos will take a closer look at how these new rules could affect current cannabis business owners—and share reactions from both residents and local business owners.
