Eureka O’Hara Honors Drag Icon Divine with Palm Springs Stage Show

Eureka O’Hara, known for her standout performances on RuPaul’s Drag Race and HBO’s We’re Here, is taking center stage in Palm Springs with a tribute to one of drag’s most iconic figures. Her new one-human show, Issue of Divine, premieres Sunday, October 19, at 4 p.m. at the Revolution Stage Company—timed to coincide with what would have been Divine’s 80th birthday.

Written and directed by Donnie, the performance explores the life and legacy of Divine—born Glenn Milstead—the fearless drag performer who rose to fame in John Waters’ cult films of the 1970s. “It’s pushing my acting chops to a whole new level,” Eureka said. “I get to play both Glenn and Divine, which is so fun and challenging. It’s a love letter to someone who changed drag forever.”

Eureka, who has often spoken about her own journey as a transgender woman in entertainment, says the show resonates deeply. “The story of Divine is romantic, powerful, and ahead of its time,” she said. “She broke boundaries and inspired so many of us to be bold and authentic. I can relate to her struggle of trying to break into the mainstream as a drag artist.”

Following the Palm Springs performance, Issue of Divine will travel to Los Angeles for a reading at the LGBT Center’s Renberg Theatre. The goal, Eureka says, is to eventually take the production off-Broadway in New York next year.

In addition to her stage work, Eureka is releasing her debut novel, Jackson Bright in the Spotlight, on October 21. The fiction story explores themes of identity, friendship, and self-expression through the lens of a young boy who learns to embrace who he is. “It’s about learning to shine on stage and in life,” she said.

Eureka will hold a book signing at Barnes & Noble in Huntington Beach following the release. “To be a small-town girl from East Tennessee now doing this—it’s surreal,” she said. “I’m just honored to share my art and maybe inspire someone else to stand tall in their own light.”

Tickets for Issue of Divine are available through the Revolution Stage Company’s website.
