City of Palm Springs Launches Aloe Palm Canyon
A new chapter in senior housing has opened in Palm Springs with the debut of Aloe Palm Canyon, an affordable apartment complex designed for residents 55 and older. The project aims to help meet the region's growing need for senior housing, offering both stability and accessibility to longtime community members.
Located along North Palm Canyon Drive, Aloe Palm Canyon features 71 apartment units—69 of which come with long-term rent restrictions to maintain affordability. Twenty-five of those homes are dedicated to individuals who were previously unhoused. The complex was partially funded by Lift to Rise, a Coachella Valley nonprofit working toward its goal of creating 10,000 affordable housing units over the next decade.
Residents like Maria Torres, who recently moved in with her son, say the location makes all the difference. “It’s close to her doctors, all within a block,” her son Abel shared. “It’s a nice neighborhood and a nice building—but access to medical care is what really matters.”
Developers say the project is a testament to how partnerships and creative funding can turn an idea into reality. With support from the Low Income Investment Fund and other contributors, the development saved over a million dollars—funds that helped keep units within reach for local seniors.
For residents, Aloe Palm Canyon isn’t just housing—it’s home.
