Keanu Reeves Reveals the Hilarious Stage Name He Almost Used: ‘Chuck Spadina’
Keanu Reeves is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, but that wasn’t always the plan.
During an appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by NFL brothers Jason and Travis Kelce, Reeves revealed he once considered performing under the name “Chuck Spadina.”
The idea came shortly after he moved to Los Angeles at age 20. His manager at the time suggested he change his name to something more “Hollywood.” Reeves, born in Beirut and raised in Toronto, said he briefly tried to play along.
“My middle name is Charles, so I was like, ‘Chuck?’” Reeves explained. “And I grew up on a street called Spadina — Chuck Spadina.”
He later tried going by “KC Reeves” but said it never felt right. “I couldn’t do it. I’d be in auditions and they’d call out ‘KC Reeves,’ and I wouldn’t even answer. Six months later, I was like, ‘I’m not doing this.’”
Reeves joins other celebrities who’ve revealed near-misses with questionable stage names. Leonardo DiCaprio recently told the same podcast he was once urged to go by “Lenny Williams” early in his career — a name he quickly rejected.
Thankfully for movie fans, “Chuck Spadina” never made it past the brainstorming stage.
