Pet of the Week: Meet Ludo, the Lovable Couch Potato Kitten

Valerie Kattz from Animal Samaritans joined NBC Palm Springs this week to introduce Ludo, an affectionate 16-week-old kitten looking for his forever home.

Despite being a bit shy when first meeting new people, Ludo warms up quickly and has a motor that won't quit. The playful kitten loves lounging in the hammock at the shelter's cat room and would make an ideal companion for someone who enjoys relaxing at home.

Animal Samaritans currently has numerous dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens available for adoption, including Elio, Squirt (an adorable pug mix), and Doodle, the shelter's longest resident. Kattz emphasized the importance of checking local shelters before purchasing pets, noting that many purebred animals are available through shelters and breed-specific rescues.

Yappy Hour - Thursday, November 6th, 4-6 pm at Riviera Resort and Spa (1600 N Indian Canyon Dr, Palm Springs). $20 suggested donation includes wine, hors d'oeuvres, prizes, and raffle tickets. Friendly, leashed dogs welcome. Proceeds benefit Animal Samaritans' life-saving programs.

Halloween Adoption Event - Saturday, October 25th, 11 am-1 pm at Petco (72453 Hwy 111, Palm Desert).

Men of the Desert - Sunday, December 7th, 11 am at Palm Springs Air Museum. The 16th annual all-male and dog fashion show and luncheon returns.
