Thousands Rally Across Coachella Valley for ‘No Kings’ March Defending Democracy

Thousands of Coachella Valley residents joined millions nationwide yesterday, October 18, for the second round of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ rallies aimed at defending democracy and challenging the direction of the current administration.

Protesters began gathering early Saturday morning in Cathedral City, where many shared concerns about the state of government leadership. Participants said they wanted to remind elected officials of their oath to uphold the Constitution and preserve democratic principles.

“That’s what we’re here in Cathedral City to do,” one protester said. “To make it very clear that we defend democracy.”

The Cathedral City rally concluded around 10:30 a.m., but demonstrations continued throughout the day. Another event took place in Palm Springs, organized by Democrats of the Desert and Friends, combining the ‘No Kings’ message with advocacy for Proposition 50. That rally, located at the corner of East Palm Canyon Drive and South Sunrise Way, drew more than 500 participants wearing yellow vests to show solidarity.

Organizers said the turnout reflected growing public frustration and a unified call for accountability in Washington. Additional footage from the Palm Springs protest will air tonight at 11 on NBC Palm Springs.
