Desert Oasis Healthcare Partners with RadNet to Offer Free AI-Powered Breast Cancer Screenings
Desert Oasis Healthcare has announced a new partnership with RadNet, locally recognized as Desert Advanced Imaging, to expand access to advanced, AI-powered breast cancer detection across the Coachella Valley.
Effective immediately, Desert Oasis will cover the full cost of early breast cancer screenings for its members, eliminating the previous $40 out-of-pocket fee. The goal is to improve early detection rates and help more women stay on track with annual screening guidelines.
The new technology, developed by RadNet, uses artificial intelligence to enhance the accuracy of mammograms and identify potential cancers earlier than traditional methods alone. Dr. Howard Berger, CEO of RadNet, says the system can spot subtle abnormalities that might otherwise go unnoticed, potentially saving lives and reducing the need for more aggressive treatments.
A local radiologist adds that while AI in radiology is still evolving, it’s already proving to be a valuable tool in improving diagnostic precision. “Over time, I think we’ll get to a point where it’ll be part and parcel with pretty much every radiology exam,” the doctor explained. “There’s still tremendous value in having physician oversight as part of the artificial intelligence process.”
This collaboration between Desert Oasis Healthcare and RadNet marks a major step forward in using AI to support early detection and prevention, reinforcing the importance of accessible, high-quality healthcare for women in the Coachella Valley.
