CVUSD Reconsiders Funding Opportunity for Coachella Valley High School Farm Project

The Coachella Valley Unified School District is revisiting plans to enhance its career technical education (CTE) farm at Coachella Valley High School, with potential state funding now in play.

The project could qualify for funding through Proposition 2, a $10 billion school facilities bond approved by California voters last November. The bond provides resources for improving school infrastructure, including career and technical education facilities.

Although the district’s facilities committee recently opted not to move forward with the grant application, community members are pushing the board to reconsider. Supporters argue that the investment would not only modernize the school’s agricultural facilities but also expand hands-on learning opportunities for students pursuing careers in farming and environmental sciences.

One community member has even offered to raise matching funds if the district decides to pursue the project, signaling strong local support for the initiative.

The board is expected to discuss the proposal and consider next steps at tonight’s meeting.
