Three Desert Hot Springs High School Graduates Complete Marine Corps Boot Camp

Three proud graduates from Desert Hot Springs High School’s Class of 2025 are now serving as United States Marines. Private 1st Class Jose Diaz Jr., Private 1st Class Jeremy Menjarez, and Private 1st Class Samuel Sosa were honored during a special ceremony at their alma mater on Wednesday, where they received enlistee grants and recognition from the 1st Marine Division Association.

All three recently completed Marine Corps boot camp — serving together in the same platoon — and returned home to celebrate their achievement with family, friends, and school staff.

“It feels amazing to get out of boot camp,” said one of the new Marines. “It also feels weird coming back to civilian life after three months under strict rules and routines. But now we have to hold ourselves accountable, make smart choices, and live up to a higher standard.”

Desert Hot Springs High School staff said the trio’s journey — from Junior Officers Training Corps members to full-fledged Marines — reflects the strength of the school’s leadership program and the dedication it inspires in students.

The community congratulates these young Marines on their accomplishment and wishes them the best as they begin their service to the nation.
