Disney Channels Pulled from YouTube TV After Contract Talks Fail

Viewers hoping to stream their favorite Disney shows on YouTube TV are out of luck — at least for now. Disney’s lineup of channels, including ESPN, ABC, FX, National Geographic, Disney Channel, and Freeform, was pulled from YouTube’s pay-TV service after the companies failed to reach a new carriage agreement before Thursday’s midnight deadline.

The blackout means millions of subscribers can no longer access some of the most-watched programming in entertainment and sports, from “Monday Night Football” to Disney’s family-friendly favorites.

Both companies say they remain in talks but have not provided a timeline for when programming might return. The dispute centers on contract terms that determine how much YouTube TV pays Disney to carry its networks.

Subscribers had been warned for days that a blackout was possible. YouTube TV posted alerts about stalled negotiations, while Disney ran public messages advising viewers of potential disruptions.

These carriage disputes are becoming more common as streaming platforms and major media companies battle over revenue sharing in an increasingly crowded digital TV market. For now, YouTube TV users will have to wait to see whether the two giants can reach an agreement to restore Disney’s channels.
