Palm Springs Announces Veterans Week Events Honoring Local Heroes

Palm Springs is honoring local service members with a weeklong series of events for Veterans Week.

The celebration begins on November 6 during Village Fest in downtown Palm Springs. Organizers are inviting the community to write personal letters of thanks to veterans. Those notes will be distributed throughout Veterans Week. Veterans can also pick up letters and challenge coins from previous years.

On November 11, the city will host the 28th annual Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade along Palm Canyon Drive. The parade will feature military units, marching bands, and veterans groups, followed by a concert from the 300th Army Reserve Band and a fireworks finale. NBC Palm Springs will livestream the parade for those who can’t attend in person.

The week concludes on November 12 with a dinner at Downtown Park for veterans and service members, followed by a patriotic concert at 7 p.m. Each veteran will receive a letter of thanks, a challenge coin, and an American flag.

Palm Springs city leaders say the annual celebration is an opportunity for the entire community to show gratitude and support to those who have served in the Armed Forces.
