CV Link Holds Grand Opening After Decade-Long Development

The CV Link, a 40-mile path connecting Palm Springs to Coachella, officially opens Wednesday with ceremonies scheduled throughout the week across multiple valley cities.

The first ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Avenue 52 access point in Coachella (86546 Ave 52). Additional grand opening events are scheduled through November 10 in Indio, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, La Quinta, and Palm Desert.

Construction on the multi-use path began in 2017. The route accommodates pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders, and low-speed electric vehicles, providing an alternative to Highway 111 for both transportation and recreation.

The path serves as a connector for valley communities, offering access to schools, workplaces, restaurants, and recreational facilities. Officials cite potential benefits including reduced traffic congestion on Highway 111, improved air quality, and increased recreational opportunities for residents and tourists.

Upcoming Grand Opening Events:

  • Nov. 6: Indio at North Jackson Park, 3 p.m.

  • Nov. 7: Cathedral City at Cathedral Canyon access point, 10 a.m.

  • Nov. 7: Palm Springs at Visitor Center, 3 p.m.

  • Nov. 10: La Quinta at Promontory Point, 10 a.m.

  • Nov. 10: Palm Desert at Bump & Grind Trail, 3 p.m.

Each event includes group rides ranging from 1-5 miles roundtrip, with complimentary e-bike rentals available (valid driver's license and credit card required). Free snacks, water, and giveaways will be provided.
