NBC is bringing Oz back to prime time with “Wicked: One Wonderful Night,” a two-hour television special celebrating the beloved musical phenomenon. The broadcast airs Thursday, November 6 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, with next-day streaming available on Peacock.

The special will feature performances by the stars of the two-part film adaptation, including Oscar nominees Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. They will be joined by Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode, along with a 37-piece live orchestra.

“Wicked: One Wonderful Night” will showcase behind-the-scenes footage, cast interviews, reimagined musical arrangements, and sneak peeks of songs from the upcoming sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” set to hit theaters November 21. The special also promises an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from the second film, directed by John M. Chu.

The first “Wicked” movie became the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical, earning 10 Oscar nominations and winning for production design and costume design. The sequel is expected to continue the story where the first film left off — with Elphaba “Defying Gravity” and Glinda navigating her loyalty between good and evil.

For fans of the original Broadway production or the blockbuster film, NBC’s “Wicked: One Wonderful Night” promises a magical night of music, nostalgia, and exclusive new moments from Oz.
