Know Before You Go: Traffic Signal Repair in Indio and Final Roadwork Wrap-Ups Across the Valley
It’s time for another edition of Know Before You Go, where we highlight the roadwork and construction projects happening across the Coachella Valley that drivers need to be aware of this week. CV Sync traffic program manager Chris Gunderson joins us with the latest updates.
In Indio, crews are working at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Clinton Street after a recent car crash and fire damaged a traffic signal. The signal remains out while crews replace wiring and electrical components. Temporary stop signs are in place, but the area is very dark at night, so drivers should slow down and stay alert for other vehicles and pedestrians who may not come to a complete stop.
Over in Cathedral City, progress continues near the Cathedral Cove Shopping Center at Van Fleet Street and Date Palm Drive. This long-term project is nearly complete, with new signal phasing, fresh striping, and slurry sealing recently finished. No detours are needed, and drivers can look forward to smoother travel through the area.
In Palm Desert, the Coachella Valley Water District project is nearing completion as crews finish paving work. The goal is to wrap up construction before Thanksgiving. Expect some congestion and temporary traffic signals while paving continues. Alternate routes include Monterey Avenue and Portola Avenue.
As always, Gunderson reminds drivers to slow down, stay off their phones, and drive with caution through construction zones to ensure everyone gets home safely.
