Kitchen 86 Honors Veterans with Free Meals on El Paseo

This Veterans Day, Kitchen 86 and Bar on El Paseo in Palm Desert paid tribute to those who’ve served by offering free breakfast or lunch to veterans and active-duty service members. The restaurant opened its full menu for the day, inviting heroes from across the Coachella Valley to dine in gratitude for their service.

Staff members said it was their way of honoring the men and women who fight for our freedom, adding that the gesture has become a heartfelt tradition. Veterans who stopped by shared that the recognition means far more than just a meal, especially for those who served during times when appreciation was scarce.

“It makes me feel proud because during the Vietnam era we didn’t get any respect,” one veteran said. “Now people welcome us home and thank us for what we did.”

Kitchen 86 staff say they plan to continue this Veterans Day tradition for years to come, keeping the spirit of gratitude alive in Palm Desert.
