Patton Museum Honors Veterans With Flyover, Ceremony and Tank Tribute

The General Patton Memorial Museum in Chiriaco Summit welcomed hundreds of visitors this morning for a special Veterans Day ceremony.

The event honored service members past and present, beginning with a patriotic flyover by the Palm Springs Air Museum and a stirring rendition of the national anthem performed by the Coachella Valley High School Marching Band.

NBC Palm Springs’ Tim O’Brien emceed the ceremony, which celebrated the courage and sacrifice of local veterans. Museum leaders say the annual tradition is a powerful reminder of the country’s history and the people who fought to protect its freedoms.

As part of today’s event, a tank was dedicated in memory of the late philanthropist Harold Matzner, whose contributions to the desert community continue to be celebrated. Attendees also had the chance to win free tank rides following the ceremony.

Organizers say the Patton Museum remains a cornerstone of military history in the Coachella Valley, honoring the legacy of General George S. Patton and the men and women who serve.
