Former Senator Barbara Boxer to Join Marnie Von Wilpert in Palm Springs for Congressional Campaign Announcement

Former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is headed to the Coachella Valley this week to appear alongside San Diego City Council member Marnie Von Wilpert for a major campaign announcement. The two will hold a press conference Thursday at 4 p.m. at the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, located off Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.

Von Wilpert, who is running for California’s newly redrawn 48th congressional district, is expected to provide an update on her campaign and outline her platform in the race against incumbent Republican Representative Daryl Issa. The event marks one of Von Wilpert’s first major campaign stops in the desert since entering the race.

The announcement follows a wave of high-profile endorsements for Von Wilpert, including backing from EMILY’s List, labor unions, gun safety groups, and several prominent state and national leaders.

Senator Boxer, a longtime advocate for women’s rights and progressive causes, is expected to speak in support of Von Wilpert’s campaign, emphasizing the importance of experienced leadership and bipartisan cooperation in Washington.

The public is invited to attend Thursday’s event, which will highlight Von Wilpert’s policy priorities and her plans to represent the interests of Southern Californians in the newly drawn district.
