Desert Hot Springs Offers Sandbags and Safety Tips Ahead of Incoming Rain

As rain is expected to move into the Coachella Valley, Desert Hot Springs city officials are reminding residents to take precautions and stay safe.

The city announced that free sandbags will be available at Fire Station 37 on Pearson Boulevard until 5 p.m. today to help residents protect their homes and property from potential flooding.

Officials are also reminding drivers to use extra caution once the rain begins. Even light sprinkles can make roads slick, so motorists are urged to slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, and avoid driving through flooded intersections or roadways.

Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors who may need assistance and stay alert as weather conditions develop throughout the evening.
