President Trump Calls for Investigation into Epstein Ties with Prominent Democrats
President Donald Trump says he will ask Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s connections to prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, former Harvard President Larry Summers, and several financial institutions.
The president’s announcement follows days of avoiding questions about his own friendship with the late financier and convicted sex offender. In a lengthy social media post, Trump blamed Democrats for what he called the “Epstein hoax” and accused some Republicans of being weak for siding with them.
His statement came shortly after House Speaker Mike Johnson revealed plans to hold a vote next week on whether to require the Justice Department to release all of its Epstein-related files. “We have been for maximum transparency of the Epstein files from the very beginning,” Johnson said.
Earlier this week, the House Oversight Committee released tens of thousands of documents from Epstein’s estate. Some of those documents reference Trump, including an email where Epstein allegedly wrote, “Of course he knew about the girls,” in a message to Ghislaine Maxwell. Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing connected to Epstein and has previously promised to release all related files if elected president.
Epstein’s accusers, along with the family of Virginia Roberts Dufresne — one of Epstein’s most vocal accusers — have sent a letter to Congress urging lawmakers to vote in favor of full document disclosure. “We are representing survivors that have never had a voice,” the letter reads.
Among the institutions mentioned in Trump’s post was JPMorgan Chase, Epstein’s primary bank for more than 15 years. The company recently settled a lawsuit with Epstein survivors for $290 million but did not admit any liability.
