Sophie Grégoire Speaks Out On Justin Trudeau’s Romance With Katy Perry
Sophie Grégoire is opening up about how she handles public attention in the aftermath of her separation from former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, particularly as his relationship with singer Katy Perry continues to make headlines. Grégoire spoke candidly during an appearance on the podcast “Arlene is Alone,” where host Arlene Dickinson praised her calm demeanor amid heightened media interest.
Grégoire said that while she is affected by public scrutiny like anyone else, she chooses how to respond to it. She noted that listening to “the music instead of the noise” helps guide her through moments of public pressure.
She and Trudeau announced their separation in August 2023 after nearly 20 years of marriage. The pair share three children: Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien.
Public attention intensified in September when Trudeau and Perry were photographed in what appeared to be an affectionate moment. Their relationship became more publicly visible in October when the two were seen holding hands at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris around the time of Perry’s birthday.
Grégoire acknowledged that public commentary can be emotionally triggering but emphasized that how she processes those moments is her choice. She also underscored the importance of allowing herself to feel her emotions, especially as a mental health advocate, noting that disappointment, anger, and sadness are part of the human experience.
During the interview, Grégoire also corrected the host’s reference to her as a “single mom,” clarifying that she shares a strong co-parenting partnership with Trudeau, whom she described as a deeply loving and available father.
