Be Strong for Animals Fund Launches Ahead of Giving Tuesday, Offering Dollar-for-Dollar Match
With Giving Tuesday just around the corner, the REAP Foundation and Animal Samaritans have launched a joint fundraising effort aimed at addressing the Coachella Valley’s growing pet overpopulation crisis. The initiative, called Be Strong for Animals, also honors the impactful reporting of NBC Palm Springs morning anchor Mary Strong, who has extensively covered conditions within the Riverside County Animal Shelter system.
The REAP Foundation has committed to matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to ten thousand dollars through December 2. All funds raised will go directly toward expanding spay and neuter services for Valley residents, a critical need as shelters continue to experience an overwhelming influx of animals.
Organizers say the goal is to make services more accessible and ultimately reduce the number of homeless pets in the region. By lowering barriers to spay and neuter programs, they hope to curb the rapid population growth that leaves many animals without homes.
“This is going to help us spay and neuter animals here in the Coachella Valley,” organizers explained. “We’re seeing an explosion in the pet population, and this fund will help bring those numbers down so every pet has a place to go.”
The Be Strong for Animals fundraiser runs through December 2, but donations are already being accepted through the link provided on-screen during broadcasts. NBC Palm Springs extends its thanks to Animal Samaritans and the REAP Foundation for supporting this cause.
