American Legion Post 519 Distributes Thanksgiving Meals to Veterans

American Legion Post 519 in Palm Springs is distributing 300 Thanksgiving meals to veterans and their families on Wednesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their downtown location on 400 N. Belardo Road.

The meal distribution, funded by Toyota and Honda of the Desert, will provide complete Thanksgiving dinners, including turkeys and traditional side dishes, to active military members and veterans.

"Whatever doesn't get given away we'll take to another post down the street in Indio and then maybe the Veterans Village and other places that specifically cater to veterans,” said John Picken, Post 519 Commander.

The giveaway followed a veterans telethon held the previous week, which raised more than $10,000 for local veterans' programs.
