Jason Clarke Opens Up About Playing Alex Murdaugh in Gripping Hulu Series

The final episode of true crime series "Murdaugh: Death in the Family" streams today on Hulu, and star Jason Clarke sat down with Manny the Movie Guy to discuss his haunting portrayal of convicted killer Alex Murdaugh.

Clarke revealed he initially hesitated to take on the role of the disgraced South Carolina attorney, noting Murdaugh's distinct physical characteristics. But the actor said understanding the character helped him see why so many were deceived.

"Now I understand how he could fool everybody, how he could fool his son, how he could fool his wife, how he could fool his community," Clarke told Manny.

The Australian actor shared he gained significant weight for the role while in Paris and became "obsessive" about studying the real case, listening to days of court recordings on his phone. He also praised co-star Patricia Clarkson's performance.
