Fatal Shooting Under Investigation in Indio

Indio police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in a residential neighborhood.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire on Quail Avenue at approximately 2:20 p.m. on November 20. Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim later died from his injuries.

The Indio Police Department has detained persons of interest in connection with the shooting. Detectives are actively investigating the incident, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending confirmation by the Coroner's Office. Police have not released information about the detained individuals.

The investigation resulted in the closure of the surrounding area Thursday, preventing some residents from returning to their homes until late evening.
