JFK’s Granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg Reveals Terminal Cancer Diagnosis

Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy and daughter of Caroline Kennedy, has revealed she is facing a terminal cancer diagnosis. In a deeply personal essay published in The New Yorker, the 35-year-old journalist shared that she was diagnosed last year with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare and aggressive form marked by a mutation known as inversion 3. Doctors discovered the illness shortly after she gave birth to her child.
Schlossberg detailed the intense and grueling medical treatments she has undergone since then, including chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. Despite the extensive interventions, doctors informed her that she has less than a year to live.
In her essay, Schlossberg reflected on the emotional toll of the diagnosis and acknowledged the long history of tragedy within the Kennedy family. She wrote, “Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it,” referencing the shadow of loss that has followed the family for decades.
Her revelation comes as the nation marks the 62nd anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Schlossberg’s great-uncle, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, was also assassinated in 1968.
